The 'deleted repo' scare: Stainless removed an upstream copy
Ayush Agarwal says it wasn't a hack or a GitHub bug. About 1,025 likes.

Ayush Agarwal posted an update on his team's "deleted repo" scare: nobody hacked them, and it wasn't a GitHub bug.
Their SDK pipeline ran on a private fork of a repo owned by Stainless, which Anthropic acquired in May. On October 27, someone there deleted the upstream copy without warning, and the fork went with it.
Why it mattersIt's a reminder that a private fork depends on its upstream. When an outside company owns that repo, a deletion can wipe out your setup.
