Streamer Lacy accidentally showed a restaurant's order QR code on stream in Japan. Viewers used it to order food, and he was left with a bill of 1.6 million yen, about $12,000 USD, according to a post from the account corrupt.
"I literally told them, 'Sorry about that, you can hand out the food to all the families here,'" Lacy said in the clip. He added that he had to pay the bill "for the food you guys ordered because you thought it would be funny."
Why it mattersA QR code on screen works like a live key to an account. This is a costly example of how anything visible on a stream can be used by thousands of viewers within minutes.
