Gergely Orosz sees a growing AI divide inside tech
He says one group is thriving with AI while another is frustrated and increasingly bitter.
Gergely Orosz, who writes The Pragmatic Engineer, says he is starting to sense a divide in the tech industry over AI.
On one side are people who thrive on autonomy and are reinventing how they work and which tools they use with AI. He says it means "LOTS of work," but they enjoy it and are getting very efficient. On the other side are people used to being mentored or told what to do. They are frustrated by the lack of guidance from management on AI, frustrated to see peers thriving, and increasingly bitter about AI and the industry as a whole.
Why it mattersOrosz adds that neither group seems to be aware the other exists, or to have empathy for it. That gap could shape how teams adopt AI tools.
