Amazon is parking billions in Nvidia racks in warehouses because there's no power to run them
Insiders call them 'dark GPUs.'

Amazon is storing billions of dollars of new Nvidia computers in warehouses because there isn't enough electricity to turn them on, according to Aakash Gupta (@aakashgupta), citing Business Insider's reporting on internal emails. About $3 billion more arrives every month.
The program is called Early Rack Receipt: AWS takes ownership of server racks before their data centers can power them. One August email projected about $5 billion of Nvidia GB300 racks that month alone. Amazon says this is routine, so racks can go live as soon as power is available.
The post notes Elon Musk predicted AI chips would pile up for lack of power. It drew about 720 likes.
