Google will cut off Search for schools that ban AI
The news, shared by Polymarket, drew about 13,900 likes and set off a wave of backlash.
Google has announced that schools that completely ban AI will also lose access to Google Search, according to a post from Polymarket.
Reporting from The New York Times, shared by other accounts, says schools cannot switch off Google's AI Overviews or AI Mode on their own, so rejecting AI means losing Search altogether.
The Polymarket post drew about 13,900 likes, the biggest tech post of Tuesday afternoon, and critics including former FTC chair Lina Khan and DuckDuckGo quickly piled on.
