"AI is finding the slop": stop blaming vibe coding for these bugs
Piyush Garg points out PHP, Node and the Linux kernel flaws sit in code humans wrote years ago.
Developer Piyush Garg (@piyushgarg_dev) pushed back on a popular narrative. His post contrasts what "everyone" says, that vibe coding is causing all these security bugs, with what he calls reality: the affected software, including PHP, Node, the Linux kernel and GitLab, was hand-written by humans, some of it 20 years ago. "AI is finding the slop," he wrote.
Vibe coding means building software mostly by prompting AI. His point is that recent vulnerabilities are being uncovered in older human-written code rather than created by AI.
Why it mattersThe post captures a real debate in software security. AI can introduce bugs, but it is also becoming a powerful tool for finding them in legacy code. It drew about 520 likes.
