Google releases Gemini 4 Carbon, two weeks after Argon
Sundar Pichai says the new frontier model ranks #1 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index and leads key cybersecurity evals.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai introduced Gemini 4 Carbon, calling it the company's next frontier model. It follows the release of Gemini 4 Argon just two weeks ago.
Pichai says Carbon ranks #1 on v5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with a score of 59. He also says it leads key cybersecurity evaluations: 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. Google reports big gains on long-horizon tasks and says it has strengthened frontier safeguards, with a gradual rollout like Argon's.
Why it mattersTwo frontier releases in two weeks shows how fast the top labs are now shipping, and the cyber scores put security front and center in the model race.
